There's a City video camera mounted to a telephone pole, pointed directly at this mess. The truck dumping it should be clearly visible. It should be easy to make an arrest, but the cops clearly couldn't care less. I tried reporting this as a crime, but all the dispatcher would do is refer it to Public Works.
Hopefully the police will understand one day
That crimes like this (e.g. Illegal dumping, graffiti/tagging)
Nurturing the area for bigger crimes (drug dealing, gun violence, etc. )
After the police in New York treated graffiti, etc. as crimes and arrested those criminals the rates of other crimes in those areas dramatically declined.
No sooner had they picked up this stuff than a new load of garbage was dumped in the same place. Not nearly as much, but the pile has probably grown by now. I think we can safely schedule a weekly pickup at this spot...
