Yeah all the folks at these residents are in need of a wake-up call. Real pieces of garbage. I've been meaning to drop by the SOSNA office and make an official complaint, but unsure how good it would do due to the fact they are parking these in spots that do not require permits. I've also been to the 17th Police District site and made a complaint, but unsure how good it will do due to the fact they park these cars "strategically" between Carpenter, 21st, and Kimball. All in all between both residents (2124 Carpenter & 921 S. 21st St.), I would estimate around 8 cars that I know of.

Wonder if you could take pics of said cars and plates, take them to police & Sosna office and have them run them? If they're questionable plates, then they most likely don't match the vin #s and/or make & model -- that's one way to have them removed. Illegal tagging and operation of a business like that. Or they need to get permit parking on this blocks too. Either way, these 2 have to be stopped. And maybe Sosna has some good contacts in District 17 that can run the plate numbers after hearing the issue.

Sure, but SOSNA isn't going to do anything about it besides maybe mention it to 17th District who may or may not do anything, but I hope so. It's a start at least. The problem is that they constantly shuffle cars around and most of the times parking them on streets that do not require a permit. They do this due to the fact they know PPA doesn't care about non-permit streets. I'm actually surprised more people haven't noticed nor hit the "fed up level" around here, but maybe people are oblivious. I don't know, but I'll do what I can and see what shakes out.

Sosna may help but I'm also wondering if you sent anonymous letters to both addresses saying its come to the attention of their surrounding neighbors on the block that they are running a used car business out of their homes (thinking its illegal -- not registered business? Permits required for this?) and that they are parking their merchandise on the surrounding blocks, taking up parking spaces with unregistered cars, etc. they are being requested to stop immediately or they both will be reported to the PPA, the police, DMV/State of Pennsylvania, etc. Making it sound much more well written and with a legal slant of course -- but giving them a heads up that we're onto this and not having this crap anymore. Then I say we contact the police and I know there's a guy on Sosna board who has a good relationship with several of the police officers and captain. And he holds the safety meetings each month. Actually, that might be a great start - have you ever attended one of the meetings? Usually there's presence there from the 17th District and they can help advise.
The one dude on Carpenter who started it all is a creep, the one on the corner doesn't seem as bad --but the way he uses 19 spots for his pickup truck, SUV blocking his garage (fine b/c it frees up one of the 4 left for others!) and however many other cars he has right at the corner is annoying as hell.
Think the more we complain, they're get shut down.

I would assume SOSNA would help due to the fact these complaints are posted on their website. I have made a few of the Safety meetings, but it has been awhile. Not to make excuses, but I've been pretty busy with work, kids, doing variety of things to our house so, it has made it difficult not to mention that when they do have their meetings...I usually find out about it last minute OR can't attend due to scheduling conflicts.

The letters to both are not a bad idea and I will probably do just that. I actually know both their legal names (and alias's) due to some open source internet research. Also, I actually know a detective for the 17th District so, I'm going to hit him up and see who would be a good point of contact to make this stuff aware. Another problem that I see that bothers me is the fact there apparently are other people that have been aware of this for some time (such as yourself) yet it seems people either don't care, don't want to do anything about it, and/or are just ignorant to their surroundings and appear to turn a blind eye. I don't know about you, but what they are doing really @#$% me off. They act like they own this neighborhood which is laughable. Not to mention they both have garages that they don't park their vehicles in. Also, one of the guys is on the PA Megan's Law website in case you are interested or have other concerns. Lastly, I'm fed up with them treating the neighborhood like it is their own crappy used car lot.

I think getting people informed and onboard is a start. And I'm going to try and make the next Safety meeting to bring this up. For the time being, I'm going to contact my 17th district contact and get a jump on those letters. Is there anything you might want to assist with? Maybe making SOSNA aware if they are not already?

This issue has been passed along to the 17th PPD for investigation.

Thank you Sosna!! I'm very glad we have such a great organization for our neighborhood -- it's a huge relief knowing that we have such a group looking out for the well-being, future gowth/development of our area.

I did hear grumblings about it from some people on the 21st block of Carpenter about the one guy who lives on that block, but I don't know his cars. Just his one that was constantly and consistently blocking the sidewalk when he parked across it in front of his garage. Regarding the new one at the corner, I didn't know he was doing it until your first post. I had wondered about it but haven't seen any evidence or know which cars are his as well. I'm more annoyed with the way he parks in front of his own garage -- NOT that I should be b/c it's at least freeing up a space for someone else. But he can't park in his garage because that is where he is housing his poor dog! (Which is lame on a whole 'nother level) I'm surprised that the neighbors on the 21st block have not officially complained yet -- esp when it is directly affecting them?!! And they prob know which cars are their "inventory". I say pictures cars (and tags) of the inventory would be our best defense -- esp when you show it to Sosna, police, etc. And if you can get me tags/car make/models/locations -- I'll be happy to start calling and complaining to 311 -- and whoever else you think? I think the more calls that come in, something will have to be done.

And whoa! No, had no clue as to one of them being on Megan's Law!! Which one and hell yeah, that should be made known. Yikes.

And George Leon, lives on 20th between Carpenter and Montrose is a good contact to talk to about this I think. He's very involved with Sosna and has good contacts in the police dept.
