I got a flat while cycling. Normally one can avoid glass by moving out into the lane. However, this becomes difficult in one particular situation: on a busy street, on an incline. Taking the lane to avoid hazards is only safe when a cyclist is close to matching the speed of cars. The incline increases the gap in speed between us and them, obviously. Perfect storm.
