Here is a link to a recent article.
The good news is there is a plan and the owner operates a business on Whalley Ave.

I believe the owner is the head of the Whalley Ave Spec. Services District. Somehow that agency has turned a blind eye to that eyesore while they campaign against other businesses opening on the street.

The owner of this property, John Vuoso, has been talking about rehabbing this property for years now and has done absolutely nothing! Any time someone presses him on this, he says he is planning to start working on it again very soon and the next thing you know several more months go by with no activity. We need to press him into action on this property because I think it is a DISGRACE that he is the chairman of the Whalley Special Service District, yet this property, as well as the old Newt's cafe which he also owns, stand in such poor condition!
We need to shame him into some action on these properties so we can continue the rehab of Whalley Avenue!!!

What needs to happen in order to get some movement with this property? Who do we contact about this blighted building, is it LCI because something needs to be done!
LCI Watcher
We will contact the owner.
There was an article in the Independent back in April, where he says construction would last 8 months. A link to the article is here:

The owner has been given info on facade and assessment deferral. He plans to pull permits. He stated that he plans to have renovations done by the end of 2012.

Glad to see that there has been some movement on this post after sitting idle for so long, thank you to all who have recently left comments!
Mr. Vuoso for those of us who work it would be very difficult for us to set up appointments and meet with you during the day. Might I suggest that you come to the next WEB management team meeting and let concerned neighborhood residents what is going on with this property?
To LCI Watcher, the reason I question this is because Mr. Vuoso has been saying this about this property for a few years now and still the property sits in disrepair, plus the end of the year is only 5 months away so unless he plans on doing a marathon building session, I dont see this happening.

No further activity has taken place at this location and now there are regular drug users and prostitues who hang out in the alley next to and behind this location and I also witnessed a man in broad daylight urinating next to this building! This is disgusting and something needs to be done as soon as possible; if the owner will not renovate, can this building be torn down due to blight????

John Vuoso there is no need to get nasty, we live in this neighborhood you do not and we are just trying to ensure that our neighborhood gets better by holding business owners such as yourself responsible for their properties. I do not have to identify myself to you to prove how courageous I am, I do that everyday by standing up and fighting for my community. Please save the insults for someone who cares and do like Elm Resident said and post permits like every other person is required to do when working on their property. If you want people to know you are working on your property, because we surely cannot tell by looking at the outside, then how about coming to a management team meeting and letting the neighborhood know what is going on? The purpose of these posts is not to put anyone on the defensive rather to make them proactive with their property, thank you for your attention to this matter!
