Description

Update 2/2/13: the lane was cleared late fall '12. However it's due for another sweep already. The round seed pod debris is persistent and dangerous to bike tires. This should be a regular maintenance item. Thank you.

The portion of the 22nd St bike lane along the parking lot has been jammed up with tree debris for as long as I can remember (a year or more?). The bike lane also loses some width in this block, and combined with the junk in the lane it is dangerous and I have seen bikers swerve into the car travel lane to avoid it. Now the fallen tree debris is impeding even more on the bike lane and contrary to popular belief it is not washing away in the rain or composting itself into the pavement. I believe it should be the city's job to sweep or scrape up this debris to avoid a total bike lane takeover and lots of swerving bikes. Please.
