Description

I realize that this is more a Washington State DOL issue, but perhaps the City of Shoreline might make some suggestions to the DOL in friendly partnership with the City of Shoreline. The DOL Limited Service Driver License Station is the "best kept secret" in Shoreline. 1) There is only one sign marking its existence, high on a building going south on Aurora. 2) There is no sign at street level indicating the entrance to the building. 3) There is only one entrance to the building, and that is southbound Aurora. 4) Parking there is extremely limited at best, as it is shared with a multi-story building. 5) The center itself is extremely small, and is very crowded most of the month. It is often more convenient to go to another facility than to have to face both a parking problem and and extended wait. There is a building that is completely vacant just south of this facility that would be an excellent place for the DOL to consider moving this to. This is a "mini-mall" located in the Fred Meyer Shopping Center. It formerly contained a Radio Shack, Music Store, and several other small businesses. To my knowledge, the building is completely vacant at this time. With some remodeling work, this entire building could easily be used as a new Licensing Facility, which could possibly expand its function from just a "limited" facility. There would be additional parking, easier access, more visibility, and definitely more knowledge of its existence. I would seriously urge the City Of Shoreline (probably this is a Council or other Department issue) to discuss this possibility with the State of Washington. I believe that the citizens of Shoreline would be much better served by such a plan.Should you have additional questions concerning this, or if you might have a better suggestion for making this happen, please feel free to contact me. Thank You.
