Description

India,

I was referred to you by Mark Livingston with Arborguard Tree Specialists. I had him out to survey our new home at 123 1st Avenue.

In the process of doing this, he identified an issue with a very large tree fronting 127 1st Avenue, which is home to a park maintained by City of Decatur. This tree has visible signs of substantial rot on both the trunk (large mushrooms) and the canopy (substantial fungus penetration). Apart from this, the tree is extremely close to the street's power lines, which poses an added risk. I've attached photos of this to this email in hopes that you can understand mine and my wife's significant concerns. As a frame of reference, I've attached several pictures of the most concerning issues. Fungus on the top of the tree, mushroom growth on the bottom, and growth into the power lines...

From my perspective, this tree poses any of the following risks:

- Ability for all/part of the tree to fall, which could damage cars from nearby homes, cars parked along 1st Avenue, or my family's residence (at a minimum)
- Potential for fire due to proximity of power lines
- Potential for power loss and associated risks in the event this power line was knocked over

I would really appreciate your perspective - and action - to address what I believe poses a very real threat to my neighbors and my family.

Thank you for your consideration,

Ryan McPherson
