Thank you for contacting the City of Minneapolis. You can expect a response from one of our customer service agents within two business days (*note: our business hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7 AM to 7 PM). If you wish to speak to a customer service agent immediately, please call 311.
We appreciate your post and would like to have Traffic Control review this for you. Please provide more details of what happened. Was there an emergency pre-emption light flashing? If not, you mention that you have to wait. How long is your wait (in minutes)? Is there other traffic waiting? What direction are you traveling (NB on 34th, EB on 50th, SB on 34th, WB on 50th)? What time of day has this occurred?
We look forward to your reply. Thank you for contacting the City of Minneapolis.
Until the city gets their new computer system, they need to just let the lights run a cycle, instead of skipping cycles if there's no traffic/pedestrian. Hit intersection at the wrong time, and you're waiting almost 2 full cycles, because the traffic light skipped your green, and you have to wait for the next one. The city's current traffic signal computer is from 1976, and too primitive to use the way the city apparently wants to. There are many intersections just like this: get there at the wrong instant, and you miss your opportunity to turn the signal green, and must wait for the next cycle. Sux!
