DEP buys our land but doesn't pay our taxes so what we have to pay goes up. That lost $$$ has to come from somewhere. That somewhere is us. Do Delaware county a favor and don't sell to NYC

DEP stopped at my buddy and gave him hell for adding a couple cups of coffee to the Cannonsville without the use of a toilet bowl, they TRIED to stop a friend crossing the road on an ATV, they waited all night (11pm-6AM) for a couple guys to come out of the woods on ATVs, they cited a middle aged couple for using a Mule or a Ranger to go to the "phone booth" ( a local spot where cell phones work) seems to me that DEP is as worried about the environment as Microsoft is about money. I guess using a little .7 litre Polaris Ranger to go up the road a few hundred yards somehow causes way more pollution to the streams than firing up a big ole 5.7L V-8 that gets about 10gal/mile. Yup, real environmentalists they are indeed. Ask a guy on a snowmobile, ATV, dirt bike etc why they don't ride over to the Rainbow much anymore, or who he does NOT want to see on his/her ride. That answer used to be the Sheriff, Local PD ot The State Troopers...not anymore now it's DEP. That's NYC folks. I see a Sheriff or a Trooper pass me by maybe twice annually, I bet I can go outside this afternoon and see a DEP car or suv go by. Its almost a daily occurrence. Why? A sheriff deputy lives right over the hill from me, about five miles up the road and I have yet to see that car go by my house.
In closing what would be a better investment to have in your community...a plot of land that you can walk, hunt and fish on (a plot that DEP outbid you on) if you get the papers from NYC giving you permission or a farm supplying you with food that you know the origins of? How about a new neighbor? Instead of NYC maybe the Jones could have afforded it if NYC gave them the chance. Maybe when NYC has no place left to build the Jones can rent an apartment in a massive complex right next door to you because when NYC went broke they sold some of their property here to investors and developers. Whats to stop them? I don't really know, maybe there is a clause on the books to prevent that but what if there isn't? If someone knows there is and can point to it please do so, a LOT of folks would like to see that paperwork Don't think this could happen? How big was NYC when it first became a city? was it always five boroughs and 14MILLION people? NO! It started small and grew and grew and had kids and they grew and had kids it's like a cancer it just comes in, multiplies and consumes. ASK the folks who used to live in towns like "Cannonsville", "Rock Royal", "Shavertown" or "Pepacton" when they were flooded in the 40's and 60's to make water reservoirs for NYC. Ask them if they had a choice? I would think one out of several thousand would have said "no"..It happened to them and it IS HAPPENING to us too..one piece of property at a time, the difference is we still have a choice...........................................................
