Description

The speeding up and down the beginning of Lawrence street is very dangerous. Vehicles and motorcycles are constantly speeding to beat the red light to exiting Lawrence Street or once entering and passing the red light into Lawrence Street, they speed into the neighborhood. Lawrence street is all residential and there are pedestrians whom are elderly walking and running, residents walking their dogs or pushing strollers, and/or children walking the street. As a resident, the noise from the speeding of vehicles and motorcycles, along with their loud and amplified music from the cars, is unbearable. I propose converting Lawrence street to become a one way street and it connecting side streets so vehicles are forced to use Main Street and eliminate using Lawrence street as a shortcut around towards the other main roads. I also believe Lawrence street needs speed limit enforcement by our patrol men and there needs to be a speed limit sign once entering Lawrence street next to the "child with autism" sign. I encourage the City of Haverhill to place speed bumps around the city like Belmont and Cambridge has done to reduce speeds around the city including Lawrence Street.
