Description
Cal Tran Ticket: 600168 /600832: tickets were closed. The crew did not clean up.. trash is still there and the Homeless came back the same night. They are again burning the trash and my 8 year old child saw them @#$% in pile of trash. They are starting to push the trash down Castro Street. They smell of both the trash and them burning is getting unbearable when its hot. I am tired of calling the police and they cannot do anything about it. Do something about it!!!

One thing that you should know is that Caltrans works within the laws and policies of the Federal Government and that of the state of California. The homeless people have some fundamental rights too and they are to be given notice of eviction and this we have done and then clean-up the place. Your city police also have the obligation to make sure that homeless people are not to tresspass on state property so you should also contact them to prevent the homeless from violating the city and state rules. Caltrans does not have special police to prevent homeless from getting back to where Caltrans has evicted them. You will be notified that the problem has been resolved as soon as I hear back from the maintenance crew. Thank you.

I am sorry - why is there a notice of eviction? The site is state private property they are trespassing... If I broke into someone's house, are you going to give me a eviction notice?
I reported this to the Oakland Police - they said its CALtran property and they cannot do anything about it.
Of course I cannot comment on this to CalTran because the email sent is a noreply email.

Issue is not going away, homeless camp came back - along with a month worth of trash and anything they pickup. They are using the left side of the lot for trash and a bathroom.
I have reported this to both Caltran and the Oakland police... both are blaming each other. Caltrain says they cannot enforce trespassing because they are not the police and the police are saying they cannot do anything because it CalTran property.
