Covered by what????? The lines are very clearly marked with brand new line markings and standard reflectors that are on most every roadway in the city. Ever since the opening of Jefferson Market Place Jefferson Avenue from Walmart entrance all the way to the entrance to Red Lobster ALL of the lane markings have been redone more then once. I drive this route every night in every weather condition. The only time the line markings may be a little hard to see is if there is heavy heavy rain fall causing the street to pond up. This occurrence is no different then any other road or highway through out Hampton Roads!! If your having trouble seeing lane markings in a well lit area maybe you should actually drive around with more then just your parking lights on.

No issue was found! I drive this area at night the lane markings are very much visible the city also did a site visit and found no issues. They have also asked that any further issues with this need to be reported them directly due to inadequate information. Why is everyone opposed to issues being closed? Especially when the CITY or original reporter has closed them. If you have further information about this problem then contact the city directly as they requested as more information is needed! Leave the issue closed!

I am the City Engineer that oversees pavement markings. We have an annual program to remark major roadways with reflectorized paint. Additionally this are was recently repaved (last year) and high quality thermoplastic material embedded with glass beads for reflectivity was applied. As an additional means, raised retro-reflectors are added next to the lane lines for added visibility.

As my remarking crew goes through the City this segment will be evaluated and remarked if the existing markings are faded or worn. If not then they will remain til the next year.

I do wish that all concerned parties would leave this item alone, either open or preferably closed - as your banter is clogged the City emails that are monitoring this site.

The city should look into asphalt imbedded led strip lighting. It would reduce the funds spent on line painting, is very visable in the rain, fog, or darkness, and requires very little electrical power to work. I have seen this in Japan, and it works really good during poor weather conditions.

Wow Issue of repair offices? I would like to know what your office number for the city of newport news is? The city has acknowledged the issue twice and the line markings at this intersection are fine and highly visible. Please leave the issue closed as there is no problem to be fixed.

Is there a way to make the road lines more visable to us older drivers? At night the lines can sometimes be harder to see. With an aging population in the city, this may be someting worth looking into.

Once again the city has given its observations on this matter and deemed it currently not a hazard or issue. If you have further concerns please contact the engineering department directly and they will answer your questions

There is no such City "Issue Repairs Office". Engineering is responsible for the markings.

LED roadway lighting has not received Federal Highway Administration approval for use in the United States. The City uses the most reflective technology available for initial markings as well as re-striping activities.
