I was not the original poster, but the granite step at the lower left of the photo tells me it is along side of West Border Road side, closer to where it intersects Murray Hill Road. It looks like the original poster located the red dot exactly on the map.

Dead fish are exactly where I pinpointed

This may be a long shot and I'm no botanist but could this be related to the sockeye salmon issue in the Columbia River....it has been pretty warm and the algae can ferment causing toxic chemicals that are harmful to fish. Just a thought.

PORTLAND, Ore. (Reuters) - Unseasonably hot water has killed nearly half of the sockeye salmon migrating up the Columbia River through Oregon and Washington state, a wildlife official said on Monday.

Only 272,000 out of the more than 507,000 sockeye salmon that have swum between two dams along a stretch of the lower Columbia River have survived the journey, said Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fisheries manager John North.

"We've never had mortalities at this scale," said North.

Just FYI. More dead fish are appearing all around the pound now, as seen in new posts.

An intervention of some sort needs to happen quickly or more wildlife in the pond will die. More dead wildlife will make the problem worse as the dead and decaying flesh will only worsen the problem of an uneven ecosystem currently in the water.

Even if its turning the pond's fountains back on, as this will at least oxygenate the water for the fish (fountains have been off for quite awhile.

A temporary Floating Aeration Pump is needed.

The water is too low for the fountain pumps to be used.

Has anyone contacted DCR? I believe this is a pond in their jurisdiction and I'm pretty sure that they spent some time cleaning it up a few years ago when the algae was out of control.

DCR no longer owns the pond. It is now owned by the City of Malden...

Has anyone tested the ponds levels of hydrogen as compared to oxygen? My quick analysis of the ponds ph levels indicates that the City may have filled the pond with 4 parts hydrogen for each part oxygen making it H40 when clearly water should be H20. Too much hydrogen and not enough oxygen leads to overly hydrogenated liquid. Hydrogenated foods are not good for people the same way hydrogenated water is no good for fish, I learned that in high school chemistry class with Mr. Ponds. I also learned that 2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen equals H20 (water) that is able to support a diversified ecosystem. I would suggest, as opposed to "waiting for it to rain", that some underwater plants such as anacharis, be added to the pond. These will help add oxygen to the water, regardless of the level of the water. Also, the pump failure is clearly the leading cause of the dead fish so it is imperative that someone fix the fountains asap and may I suggest adding a few more so this doesn't happen again next year. If that isn't an option you could always buy a few oxygen filled tablets from Budget Pools.

Can you please explain how the issueS have been resolved.

? Issue Resolved ? Could you be more specific. We are all concerned about the safety of our wild life whether on land or in the water. Including ourselves and our children. Also for the people that come to visit this lovely historical site.

The fish were removed. The City is working towards a long term solution that involves fixing the mechanical issues with the aerators which will address most of the issues.

I am sorry, but this cannot be closed until the fountains are working and the aerator is installed. Is there a timeline? The fountains have been out of service since before the 4th of July.

We need more information in regards to this serious matter. We also need to know the warnings signs so before an epidemic begins we can shut it down.
