I reported this 15 days ago because I felt there was an immediate safety concern with cars entering Michigan Ave almost blindly where cars are travelling at 45 mph. Maybe a police office should look at it instead of a code enforcement officer who is more concerned with sign regulations and sign permits. We do not need any accidents.

Pizza Hut has been contacted again today and will be moving the sign back towards their building a few feet to increase visibility.

I go by this sign everyday & I can tell you that it has NOT been moved, as this post has requested.

As of this morning the sign has not been moved. My reading of the city sign ordinance indicates that this temporary sign location does not meet the ordinance requirements. Section 152.04 (N) requires that temporary signs be located at least 3 feet back of the street right of way line. Section 152.04 (H) states that a sign shall not be erected in any place where it may...obstruct the view of any intersection or entrance to any public street. The city has the right of way maps for Michigan Avenue and also has a site plan for a new Pizza Hut building at this location so you should be able to determine where the right of way line is but it would in any case it would be behind the sidewalk line towards the building. A reported safety hazard should not take 32 days to resolve. Please deal with this issue before there are any accidents or injuries.

I confirmed that the Code Enforcement Officer is aware of the situation and we will again be making contact with the Business. We will continue to follow our Code Enforcement process.

The manager of Pizza Hut has been contacted again about moving the sign. He does have a permit for the sign but has agreed to move it back to eliminate any vision obstruction leaving the car wash.

The sign has not been moved by Pizza Hut. The "permit" on the temporary sign expires tomorrow. Please make sure the sign is either promptly removed or if renewed that it meets all the provisions of your sign regulations.
