I was walking my dog along there this afternoon. There was a U-Haul truck parked there and they were loading up the debris. I talked to the guy loading up the garbage and he advised me that he was a friend of the person who had hired a company to dump the trash. The trash consisted of an entire wood siding of the owners house as well as some garbage bags of household trash. The ID of the homeowner was found in the garbage bags and the police department contacted him and told him he had 24 to remove the trash or he would be cited. They were still cleaning up the trash when I left.

I also hope they make him pay for the destroyed plants that were crushed when they dumped all of this wood siding on top of them.

I'm glad they cleaned it up. It's not always possible to know who is a reputable hauler and who is not. I hope the owner reported the hauler for illegally dumping. Oakland needs to have more affordable dumping and recycling options. This wood looks recyclable so the dump should not be charging haulers to dispose of it. The dump have gotten too high and have led to an increase in illegal dumping.

City of Oakland Public Works Department addressed this issue on 07/23/2015, service request # 593648.

The people picking up the trash said the homeowner only had a phone number for the hauler, no address or receipt. Curious if the city will be contacting them as well.

I made a comment on this earlier but it did not post. The people picking up the debris advised me that they only had a phone number for the hauler, but not an address. I hope that the city follows up on that as well.

The city should pretend they have a job for the hauler and have police there when they arrive.
