Thanks for reporting. As you may know, coyotes, foxes, raccoons and deer are common sights around parts of New Haven that abutts large wooded areas like Peat Meadow Park. For years residents have been enjoying the ever increasing sights of wildlife, as they return to their normal habitats. Large mammals such as coyotes, foxes, raccoons, woodchucks, etc, have not posed any dangers to residents in New Haven. Coyotes and foxes are quite shy and usually not aggressive to humans (unless provoked). We suggested that concerned pet owners keep pets on a leash, go out with them, and when its dark turning lights on and making noise before going out. It is also important to keep pets up to date on their rabies vaccines and any other shots to keep their animals safe.
