Description
We were woken up this morning, shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015 by a police helicopter. It circled around our neighborhood, the south Corona area (Rimpau & Foothill Blvd.) for well over an hour.
I called the non-emergency Corona Police Dept. and asked if there was some type of emergency that we needed to worry about and there was none. I was told that this helicopter was necessary for the safety of your officers, but really, 2 a.m., for over an hour with no real reason? Another police helicopter has been doing runs in our area around mid-night a few times a week. Now this. Unacceptable.

This may be the most ridiculous post and string I have seen in a while.
A police helicopter (from Riverside PD I might add) is circling over your house because there is a problem. If you call the PD they are not going to tell an anonymous voice on the phone the situation... They are busy (because there is a problem) and it is bad tactics. Also, you have no need to know.
The helicopter only stays in one place (especially in Corona, when we don't own a helicopter) when there is a reason and it is not to annoy you or invade your privacy (what makes you think you are so important that they are there to watch you).
I would further recommend refraining from criticizing how the police do their work when you clearly have no idea how they do a proper investigation. It takes time.
You should feel fortunate that you live in a safe city that has the tools and ability to intercede in crimes and protect the assets of us, our children's schools, and our city. Perhaps the criminals should be held to blame for causing the problem, not the police for properly and professionally doing what my tax dollars pay for.

Caring Neighbors:
Who are you to discount our complaints?
I agree that there’s no invasion of privacy, but feel these choppers are disturbing the peace. While I understand that the CPD and RPD are there to keep us safe and I appreciate that, I believe that in this instance, the circling around for over an hour was unnecessary. You and the CPD can justify this all you but I believe they are liars and are wasting tax payer’s money. CPD is a joke from what I and many others have experienced over the years.
You just have to wonder what’s going on…it’s constant. These choppers have been circling (few times a week) in our neighborhood late at night (11:30-12:30 a.m.) and it was the last straw for many of us. So, yes the complaint is warranted. Nobody in our neighborhood is getting any sleep. There’s enough noise as it is without chopper noise above, which by the way is very loud and I don’t think law enforcement realizes this. And it IS our business and we DO need to know what is going on in our neighborhood. Is there really a threat to our safety, what are they doing? I would understand the constant surveillance if I was living in Compton.
