lol Fair Havener, I'm not Burwell. We all know that this problems exist and may not go away 100% but at least they should keep their business on the dark and on the usual spots.

I'm a home owner full time employee working mom with two kids, that work really hard and i don't understand why not everybody can't or at least try :(

Call all you want by the time the police show up the prostitutes are gone and if they're still there there's nothing they can do even though they know what they're doing and are most likely high and have drugs on them. Just accept that the NHPD doesn't care about fair Haven

Absolutely nothing, just as much as the police in Far Haven, a waste to post and a waste to call the police

So what do we do learn to live with or move?

Call the police every single time you see a drug dealer or prostitute, if everyone does this they will get tired if responding and doing nothing that they may actually make arrests or at least show more presence to keep this scum off the street. Anyone with children should have been doing this from the start but maybe some parents don't really care that much. I would call everyday and nothing changed and most neighbors wouldn't call it'll take a community effort to fight this but I don't think fair haven residents have any fight in them anymore it's a shame I remember as a child this was a decent neighborhood but that was a long time ago and when people would stand up and fight for what's right now people hide and contribute to the disease.

I've been keeping track of dealers and prostitutes the past several days, and have seen no decrease in activity, especially early AM on my way to work, and no police presence. Is there other areas of New Haven that are that much worse that there's no police presence in Fair Haven in the early AM when the streets are full of dealers, prostitutes and crackheads??? If you check the bus stop on Ferry by Grafton in front of the apartments it's taken over by prostitutes smoking crack, putting on make-up and using it as a pick up spot, the police have been called numerous times yet it still goes on every day, just take a look and you'll see it everyday, unless the girls are busy with clients. You'll also find occasional junkies passed out and may find a needle or broken crack pipe, but if the police are fine with it, I guess we should be as well, after all it's only Fair Haven.

Everyone has the numbers, the problem is response, presence and taking the matter seriously. Most times the dealers see the cops coming and disappear the prostitutes get stopped and get let go walking away laughing it's a joke

I doubt if everyone has the numbers.
We have to keep calling, calling, calling, and calling., The squeaking wheel gets the oil.
Posting here may just alert the criminals to be more careful and harm any undercover work the police my be doing.

I guess that is the answer keep posting and calling until somebody does something; we have done better in other areas in Fair Haven or at least we want to believe and looks like other than some incidents,
but the drug transaction and prostitution on day light on public places has to stop. I'll vote for the first alderman that would say something about it otherwise... I don't know yet.

I actually called this morning as there were 2 drug dealers and about 5 prostitutes between DD and Chapel on Ferry and to my surprise 2 card showed up within 3 minutes but needless to say all the trash scattered quickly and I spoke with the officers and they cruised the area several times before I left for work. I mentioned they need to be present because this is how it is every morning and they said just call everytime you see something and I said I would be calling every 5 minutes and they said then keep calling and have your neighbors call and well keep coming so let's all keep calling they may not be able to make arrests but will definitely slow down their business and start keeping people away that shouldn't be here

Fair Havener, I tend to agree, it's almost like Escape From New York, throw all the drug dealers, junkies, crackheads, crackwhores, etc. in one area and keep the other sections safe, like the Mayor's and Police Chief's neighborhoods. The police know all the dealers and prostitutes and see them everyday and often avoid the area, especially early mornings when they're out in force, I asked the question to then FH district manager Herb Johnson and he said he didn't have enough officers and I responded then where are they all??? Is there an area of New Haven that much worse than Fair Haven? No real aceptable answer. I go to work between 4 and 5AM every morning and I see at least a dozen lowlifes every morning on my short 1/4 mile trek to 91 and extremely rarely see any police. I've tried for about 4 years to stop this and it hasn't gotten any better. NHPD just show some presence and just act like you're doing something even that will help a little. I've even written Toni Harp with the typical BS response that we will address the situation.

After doing some research, it looks like most of the drug activity and prostitution happens between C-Town parking lot and Chapel street late at night and early morning. The dealers become less visible during the day but prostitution is still rampant from Chapel all the way down Ferry to the entrance to 91N. On a typical day you can see between 1/2 dozen to up to 15 prostitutes strolling Ferry Street in tis area in the middle of the day with families and children also on the street and most of these girls aren't quiet about it. You can always find a girl or 2 hanging around in the bus stop on Ferry by Grafton, smoking crack, passed out, putting on make-up, using this as a staging area for getting picked up. The NHPD know about this and have been called multiple times, yet the girls are still there everyday, just saw 2 about an hour ago on my way home from work. If the NHPD knows this and gets multiple calls and these girls force the elderly to stand and wait outside - I even saw 2 elderly ladies standing out in the rain due to a passed out junkie in the bus stop - why is this still happening, does the NHPD really not care? Has Fair Haven turned into just a dumping ground for all the lowlifes in New Haven. This isn't fair, what can anyone do??? I call the NHPD almost daily and have seen absolutely no progress, and don't give me any sob stories about these poor girls are just doing what they need to do to survive, we all make our choices and we all make bad choices but need to correct and make-up for these things, these girls made their choices and put themselves in this situation and keep themselves in this situation. What are you going to do when one of you children picks up an infected needle or crackpipe, which are common on the sidewalks, and gets infected with something? Is that when the people and the NHPD will finally do something? We always wait for a tragedy to correct a problem, rather than getting in front of it. It will happen and we will have no one bur ourselves to blame.

I lived in Fair Haven until last year, when I decided I couldn't handle it anymore. The drugs, the prostitution, the violence, the incredibly high noise level; the overall quality of life was the worst I'd ever experienced. I didn't want my son thinking this was what a neighborhood should be like, so I moved. You (and the NHPD) can chase drug dealers and prostitutes all you want, but it will not fix Fair Haven if that's all you're focusing on. There is no quick fix for Fair Haven because there's such a high transient population and such a low socioeconomic factor. You need involved homeowners and long-term tenants to give a damn, to stop tolerating the illegal activity happening outside their windows, and start coming together as a community that wants to make things better (and that involves a lot more than calling NHPD every time you think you see a prostitute). It's not easy at all, trying to get people to care. There are some great community activists in Fair Haven (like Lee Cruz) who work tirelessly to do this, but they're being outnumbered by the scum, to be frank. The broken windows theory is a huge factor to what's wrong in Fair Haven; drugs and prostitution are just a side effect of that.
