First let me say like you pointed out most of this display is on private property. As for the public portion which is a few yellow ribbons, I have no problem with them being there. Now let me give you a little back ground. The wife and three kids who live in that house have been through hell and back as their father/ husband did a tour in the most danderous parts of Afganistan. The missions he was sent on were so sensitve the only way he could communicate with his family was to change his last name to Rage on a social website for the safety of his fellow soldiers and family, when they let him communicate at all. This gentleman did make it home to his family finally after serving his country. His family sacrificed. He sacrificed. And now since they display their patriotism and relief that their father made it home in one piece they get called war mongers and low class? Shameful
Just shameful. I for one am proud to have a family of this caliber living in my neighborhood. And i too am glad he is home in one piece.

To give my opinion...it appears as though it was never really closed.

I watched as this family prepared to welcome home their father and husband. They put their whole hearts into the welcome home display and I for one am proud that I was given the opportunity to share in their joyous celebration if only as an onlooker. This man deserved this display and so much more. How dare anyone criticize these actions in such a petty uncaring manner. I agree you should be as ashamed as we are proud of this soldier and his family.
As far as distracted drivers go...if such a display is that much of a distraction they should either pull over to honor the display or have the common sense to realize that they shouldn't be driving if this "distraction" can be a hazard. Perhaps you my friend should find a hobby that doesn't require either common sense or decency as you appear to be lacking in both.

As a West Havener and an American I am proud to have a soldier living in our city. Those who complain about a family celebrating the return of a loved one who has been defending the very rights we are enjoying on this community board need to rethink their priorities. I'm glad the city is allowing the display to remain up.
