I've seen tons of rats near the new trash can in Kenney Park. This is the trash can closest to the end of Dresden Circle. The rats swarm the trash can and then run across the little pedestrian path and scurry in a hole in the ground near private property. The hole in the ground is next to the trash/recycling bins of the house that is closest to the park/ pedestrian path. If the rats don't go down the hole, I've seen them multiple times run around the house . I've never seen rats in this area until the new trash can was placed in the park when it was renovated. Somerville DPW is pretty good about maintenance, but this is a growing concern- the rats are often out day and night.
