Description
Another blight issue on Jewett St that has been ignored. What's up with this dump? No one lives here and the place is packed full inside. I'm sure it's loaded with mice because there is a gap in the front door frame. This picture actually looks good but take a drive by now and there are kitchen cabinets that have been sitting outside for year now and the garage door is falling apart even more. WHERE IS THE BLIGHT OFFICER?????????????

The new Blight Officer, Mr. Dave Blackwell Sr., under the new Mayor Cassetti administration, and the new Blight Laws incorporated by the new Board of Aldermen are fully functional and aggressively attacking blight like never before. The case load is well beyond the capability of a one-man 40 hour work week which is why Mr. Blackwell works well over that, including weekends. Years of neglect by property owners and the failure of the past administration to be pro-active against blight have led to an abundance of unchecked blight. Mr. Blackwell has his hands full reacting to properly logged-in complaints, let alone going on patrol to find blighted properties on his own. If you have not contacted him to log in a complaint and get it on his list, please do so if you want some kind of resolution. SeeClickFix is not a city website. Mr. Blackwell will review each complaint, in the order they come in, as time and priorities allow. Sometimes I forward these complaints to his office but it is actually better for the complaint to be registered by the person who is most concerned, plus it is beneficial in understanding the process. When visiting his office, take a few minutes to review the many “before and after” photos, as proof of his efforts and efficiency. If you would like your taxes increased to support additional staffing in the Blight Office, please relay that to the Mayor.

NOW, I trust the current administration will add staffing to the Blight Department and funds to deal with blighted properties QUICKLY so this long list Mr. Blackwell inherited is cleaned up?
