I would personally love it if the police patrolled to keep people from trashing the place out, camping out, etc. when there's NOT a big event. City residents can't even use the green any more; it's dirty and unpleasant, and you don't feel safe.

I think the Green's a wonderful shared space. People are generally respectful of one another, whether they be homeless or Yale profs, working folk or captains of industry. And I see cops on the Green a lot. In fact they have a distrct office on the Green. I just don't get the cop cars cruisin' on the Green.

It is creating a presence which is not bad.
