Still an issue. Still syringes. Still people living at risk.

I bike and run under here everyday. I agree it's a public health concern for both those dwelling there and the surrounding community. Urine, feces, and trash are often overflowing onto the sidewalk. However I'm concerned that they will simply get kicked out by the city and not be given proper care or shelter. That said, I do support this post.

Neither CalTrans nor the City of Oakland seem particularly interested.

You can't give care and shelter to those who don't want it. OAKLAND has sit,lie law and it's not being enforced. The city needs to start enforcing rules. These encampments are unhealthy, not only to them , but everyone who lives or walks by these areas especially if syringes are around. One group of people can't be allowed to do whatever they want regardless of their situation. The U.S. doesn't help the mentally ill and that's the problem.

We have Reagan to thank for that (when he Governor of California, in the Dark Ages.
