(posted on behalf of Assistant Chief Luke Williams, SPPD) Thank you for your e-mail to Mayor Rick Kriseman dated May 20, 2015. The Mayor has asked me to respond directly to you regarding the illegal parking issue occurring in the 1300 block of 8 Street North. Community Service Officer Parker responded to this location and did not observe any vehicles parked illegally. Community Service Officer Parker will continue to monitor the area during his shift and will cite and/or educate the offender when a violation is observed.
In the meantime, please call the non-emergency number when the problem is occurring so that an officer may be dispatched to resolve the issue immediately. If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact Community Service Acting Sergeant Crawford at 893-4819. Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention.
Sincerely,
Luke C. Williams
Assistant Chief of Police

Our apologies - the above message from the SPPD was posted here by mistake. THIS is the response that should have been posted to this issue:
"Thank you for your e-mail, SeeClickFix # 1666470, dated May 23, 2015, regarding the trash and possible transient issues on the Skyway Trail. The Mayor has asked that I respond to you directly in reference to this issue. Major Kovacsev met with Codes Investigator Mike Vold at this location and observed the trash in the bike lanes. The Codes Department has agreed to contact the Sanitation Department to clear out the trash and contact Parks and Recreation Department to cut the grass along the trail. Additionally, officers were at this location and did not observe any obvious encampments in the area, but will continue to monitor with directed patrols.
If you have any further issues, please feel free to contact Community Service Sergeant Larry Hordge at (727) 892-5941.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to the attention of the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Sincerely,
Luke C. Williams
Assistant Chief of Police
Uniform Services Bureau"
One extra comment: the Stormwater Department was alerted to the need to both clean-up the accumulated trash in that area as well as mow the sides of the trail (not Sanitation and Parks, as mentioned above) - this was to have been taken care of last week - sorry for any confusion with this situation - please post additional issues here, or call the Action Center at 893-7111 with any questions.
Thank you! David - Mayor's Action Center
