Description

This "Bike Route" sign at the corner of Talbot St and Catalina Boulevard indicates cyclists should leave Catalina and ride along the parallel feeder road adjacent to southbound side of Catalina Blvd. There is another "Bike Route" sign further down the feeder road. However, once the cyclist gets down to Lomaland Dr (the next street) there is a concrete barrier across the road along with a "Right Turn Only" sign. Cyclists that need to go straight cannot because the barrier is there. The concrete barrier was likely put in long after the "Bike Route" signs were.

Cyclists are entitled to ride in traffic lanes, and shunting them off Catalina instead of defending their right is no longer possible with the concrete barrier. This was either not thought out, OR it was deliberate but misguided attempt to get cyclists off the main road without thinking of the concrete barrier.

Either both "Bike Route" signs need to be removed OR the arrow at Talbot needs to be flipped to point LEFT and the other sign needs to be moved to clearly sit on Catalina. and not the feeder road.
