Violating Oakland muni-codes 9.08.160 Sitting or lying in the street or sidewalk, 9.08.170 Obstructing pedestrians, trailer parked for more than 72 hours. Probably a lot more. These people created the problems they have but they still have follow the rules and laws. Oakland needs to step up and get this under control.
Thanks for posting this, neighbor. City of Oakland, Public Works, the location is on Hannah, both side of the street, between 32nd and Peralta. This drug and prostitution camp is directly related to all types of bad behavior in our neighborhood. Stolen bins, recyclable materials and carts. Prostitute working out of one of the structures. Drugs being bought/sold/consumed. Open fires in the evenings.
That's the problem they don't have to follow the rules and laws. No one forces the issue. If they don't have to why would they? A72 hour notice and a stay away order. They know how to play the game.
What is taking so long to clean this mess up? I was told that a 72 hour notice, then social services tries to help them and then removed. Start enforcing the laws. Find a huge lot out somewhere and let them set up camp away from neighborhoods, parks, sidewalks etc. The city needs to start taking some action.
Can't we just get together all of us with a few trucks, and let these people know WE will be hauling this crap away if they dont move it within the next 5 min?
