Description
This is another shining example of pre-WWII out dated traffic signal technology. This light turns red holding up 4 lanes of traffic up to 20-25 cars, all idling for no reason while there are no vehicles, no buses and no pedestrians waiting or exiting Hurst Street.
Big waste of time and fuel waiting for non-existent vehicles.

I agree! I just recently drove along New Scotland Ave. from the area of the new merry-go-rounds in Slingerlands, down through the City of Albany after not having been there in a long time. That whole section of New Scotland Ave. looks as though it was built and then forgotten about in the 1920s! The traffic lights are so old that they look like they should be controlling the traffic of Model T Fords and horse-and-buggies! The backwards-thinking of this city, (and the whole State of New York) is mind-boggling!
With the technology of today, there is no reason why we can't get traffic lights installed which ONLY turn red if there are vehicles entering from the side roads.
GET WITH THE TIMES, NEW YORK!!!
