I agree too. I have passed through there on a few occasions since its been changed and it can come off as confusing or contradictory. Especially at night. One thing that annoys me too about here (and the roads in general) is when they are re-oriented (say, from two lanes to one), the method used to cover old road paid with tar or whatever is semi-reflective and only directly on the old paint. When new lane paint isn't clear or done right, and old lanes still seemingly marked, people can get confused.

Drove by here Sunday morning and saw that the lines had been repainted. It looks much better.
