I drive by Edgewood Avenue Mall every day. In the afternoons there are vehicles parked on the street with people sitting in them drinking & smoking. People also sit on park benches smoking & drinking. The litter left behind is atrocious. The Parks Department & the NHPD should patrol more frequently.
The NHPD requested the public's help in stopping the ATVs & Dirt Bikes when we spotted them speeding & driving irresponsibly. The citizens have responded but the NHPD hasn't.
It is awful. How ignorant people are. How they have no regard for a peaceful, clean community. I have to say I saw a car parked on the Edgewood Ave. mall and the police was called. within 15 minutes, a police car showed up. Kudos to the police for sending someone right away. The parks department have to be diligent in keeping the Edgewood Mall clean as in previous years. Parks Dept.........please do your part. Maybe if you did, these people wouldn't park and drive this illegal dirt bikes there.
Well, I haven't seen this particular offender around lately, so maybe the police actually used my video and information to arrest him. Or at least scare him a bit. I hope so. With so many concerned citizens, maybe the police should do an announcement when they really bag one of these guys.
I called the non-emergency yesterday while I watched an older man on a quad teaching a younger boy on a mini quad how to do tear up the grass. The city might as well put in stadium seating and have monster truck shows there. Unless they change policy, this will not change.
Issue not closed! There are now two atvs parked at 364 Edgewood avenue. The owner routinely rides the around the neighborhood and even takes his small boy on them on the street and inside Edgewood park.
Please call the depart of children and families and report this to the new haven police atv task force (Sgt Karl Jacobson).
The owner is a black male in his late 20s, about 6 feet tall with a thin build. His clothing of choice for the summer appears to be a white t shirt and blue jeans.
