This eysore is worse than described; the "dumpster" is in reality a huge storage container being used just for that purpose. It is meant to be permanent and has been in use for over 6 months. Here is the section of the Town of Vernon Zoning Regulations pertinent to this illegal "dumpster":
13.10 Storage Containers and Dumpsters:
Portable storage containers and dumpsters may be located on a lot in any zone subject to the following restrictions:
13.10.1 A zoning permit shall be obtained from the zoning enforcement officer prior to the placement of a portable storage container or dumpster on property in any residential zone; a zoning permit shall not be required where one or more storage containers and/or dumpsters are (1) shown on a site plan approved in accordance with Section 14, or (2) are necessary for construction-related work as provided below;
13.10.2 Except for dumpsters used for construction-related work, no zoning permit shall be valid for a term longer than 30 days; a zoning permit may be renewed for one or two additional 30 day periods if compelling justification is provided to the zoning enforcement officer; under no circumstances shall such a zoning permit be valid for longer than 90 days.
This ordinance is clearly in violation in this case. Also the general unkempt lot is a severe eyesore to all of the surrounding neighbors as well as anyone who travels Bolton Rd as this is blatently visible to passersby.
Please rectify this situation quickly as there is no excuse for these conditions in a residential Vernon neighborhood and especially when the violating property directly borders Valley Falls Park.
Mr. Burke - this sounds like a blight situation. I will forward this to the Town Building Official and our Zoning Enforcement Officer for them to address.
