Description

The crosswalk button at the NE corner of Drake & memorial parkway (located next to the Parkway Place Mall parking garage). Is very difficult to access. It is on a small hill, surrounded by curbing on the street side and then surrounded by shrubs. A person in a wheel chair would have NO way to access this button. I was pushing my stroller and had to park stroller, then squeeze through the bushes (an average to larger person could not have). Additionally, once I was given the crossing signal, the turning lane had a red light, but I had a very hard time getting the drivers to yield to me (the site line isn't very good and drivers weren't really stopping before doing a 'right on red'). Perhaps a 'yield to pedestrian' sign would help, or a red arrow signal while the pedestrian crossing is in use.
