Description
There is a three-way stop at the intersection of Monte Vista Ave. and Piedmont Ave. However, traffic headed north/south on Piedmont Ave. very often fails to acknowledge the cars waiting at Monte Vista and simply continues without giving the right of way to waiting cars on Monte Vista (oddly, I've never noticed another intersection with such a repeated problem). I have seen a number of close calls at this intersection. Please consider adding a "3-Way" sign under the Stop sign so that cars on Piedmont Avenue will remember to stop and allow traffic on Monte Vista to turn left or right.

I commented on this same issue a few months ago. Also that cars on Piedmont sometimes just roll through, without even noticing the stop sign! Its very dangerous, given the volume of pedestrian traffic here. I think this intersection needs stoplights.
I get the see, click, part of this. But what about the fix it part? Who reads these comments? Will something actually get done about this issue?

Thank you, Robin, for previously bringing this intersection to the attention of the City of Oakland Public Works Department. I agree completely that cars often fly through the intersection without stopping at the intersection. I should have mentioned that and I've noticed this many times myself, particularly with cars headed southbound on Piedmont Ave. I like the idea of some other device, whether it's a traffic light, blinking lights at the crosswalk, or the addition of "3-way" on the stop sign. Just something to change what's going on at what has the potential to be a dangerous situation.
It's disheartening to hear that you've not gotten a response in several months. I'm new to this website and was hoping there would be action taken or a response as to why an action can't be taken.
Thank you.

First, thank you to the City of Oakland Public Works Department for responding to this request! Cheers for showing that this process works. Unfortunately, the three-way signs that have been posted have done little to nothing to stop the cars (especially those headed southbound on Piedmont Ave.) from ignoring the stop sign. I was almost struck hit by a car headed southbound on Piedmont Ave. and got a mere shrug from the driver this afternoon. Please note this is *not* unusual behavior. Since the three-way stop signs were posted, I have continued to witness drivers ignore the stop sign. I imagine there is something peculiar about the layout, traffic patterns, busy-ness of the street, or something else at play. But, I've honestly not come across a stop sign so frequently ignored.
Let's listen to Robin and please evaluate for a stop light before someone really gets hurt.
Thank you!

My goodness, this intersection continues to be a dangerous spot as I again witnessed this afternoon. If a helpful addition to my previous commentary, some cars headed southbound on Piedmont Avenue do stop, briefly, but they do not wait for traffic coming from Monte Vista who are there first and waiting to make southbound turns onto Piedmont Ave. Whether it's the angle of the intersection, pedestrians crossing the street adding distraction, or something else at play, there's something dangerous about the number of drivers on Piedmont Ave. who either ignore the stop sign or fail to yield to cars already at the intersection at Monte Vista. It's as if traffic on Piedmont Ave. considers this only a two-way stop. Please help!
Thank you.
