Description

I live in The Magnolia Court" townhomes, at this private property location. Several times I've called the Corona Police department to cite vehicles parked in the marked
( "FIRE LANE" and "NO-PARKING" ) red curb. However, when they respond they usually say "The curb is not clearly marked with the CVC section", and they end up leaving and not citing the vehicles. After talking to the fire department. They say as long as you have a sign posted at your front gate. the vehicles can be cited. We have a sign that says "No Parking in Fire Lanes or Red Curb, CVC 22500.1" at the front gate. I called Corona Police Traffic Division. They told me the curb must have the CVC section painted on it. A few officers have cited cars in violation without the CVC on the curb. And the majority DO NOT CITE, because they say "It's not clearly marked". The California Vehicle Code section 22500.1 says "Painting the place in red and, in contrasting color, marking the place with the words "FIRE LANE", which are clearly visible from a vehicle.....". The California Vehicle Code section 22500.1, does not state the curb has to have the CVC section onto it. On the Corona Police Department citations, they have the correct section numbers clearly "marked" for them to check off, after observing the proper language on the curb. Why do the majority Corona Police Officers that come to this location to cite a vehicle, usually don't because of what they say "It's not clearly marked". That seems to conflict with the language of the California Vehicle Code. Can you clarify or point out Corona Police Department's view or policy on writing tickets parked in a marked, red curb "FIRE LANE" ... "NO PARKING" .
