Description
There is a blighted lot on the corner of Grand Street and Eagle Avenue. The property is the former Alameda Beltline Property and was used by a local concrete company. Since the business closed, the lot has become a nuisance. There were people camping in the lot, spraying graffiti, and storing miscellaneous material. Currently the lot has been fenced with chain link fencing to prevent trespassing, but the wood fencing underneath is deteriorating and the lot is a eyesore to the new Grand Marina property owners. Please address this issue with the City of Alameda and the property owners.

Dear Mr. Keith Hernandez,
Thank you for taking the time to bring these concerns to our attention. Public Works Maintenance Department hired contractors to clean up the site last year, remove the waste and debris, and repair the gates. We have our staff routinely monitor the area for dumped debris and abandoned furniture. The last visual inspection was done on 3/20/12. Currently there are no plans to remove the fence and install a new one at this site, however, if we notice that there is a breech, we will have it repaired. Upon inspection today, there were no new breeches noted.
Should you see illegal activity at this location, please contact the Alameda Police Department at (510) 337-8340.
Should you have any additional questions or concerns regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me anytime, Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sincerely,
Todd Williams
