Description
Our neighborhood has small children playing near the streets. Commuter traffic cuts through from Grand to West to avoid the light at Grand and West. The cars line up outside the houses, squeal their tires to turn left onto Grand, and put the children in danger. There should be a speed bump on W. Circular.

Yes, this is my neighborhood, too. Before anyone jumps out and says "keep your kids off the street", that is not the issue--they don't play IN the street. Cars speed down the street in the middle of the road, run the stop sign at W Circular and Glenmore and have no respect for the residents. I'm an adult and have been nearly hit while standing on the side of the road by people just racing to avoid the light on Grand. It is much worse during the week when the high school kids are driving, but I've seen many close calls with drivers of all ages. This area needs a sidewalk, occasional police presence (trust me--they could make a fortune in tickets) and a double line painted.

Our house is right on the corner of Grand and Glenmore so we get plenty of chance to "enjoy" that traffic scene. Not only do some drivers operate under illusion that they're Formula 1 participants (so God forbid they slow down at the corner!), they also take it as a personal affront when Glenmore residents try to do things they need to do, like cross the street, shovel or get to their mailbox. I have two kids and while they're pretty good about staying off the road sometimes they *have* to get out there, to walk down to the school bus stop or bike to their friend's house (this part of Glenmore Ave does *not* have a sidewalk). So yes I second other suggestions in this post--this area does need some sort of traffic regulation enforcement.

The issue has not been resolved. It was picked up by the Saratogian and was on the front page today. The issue should remain open for other community members to comment on who read the Saratogian.

Let us know how the new system helps, if at all. We're putting another See Click Fix article in The Saratogian to announce the plans Public Safety Commissioner Christian Mathiesen has to fix the problem.
Keep reporting your issues, it clearly does help!

This was not an issue to make an article out of Lucian. You should have focused on the intersection of Park, Whitney and Circular behind Congress Park. Now Mathiesen is involved and will screw everything up as he always does. Why don't you learn better reporting skills Lucian. This section of road is near a school and a lot of students travel through here as it is a direct route from the school to their nearby homes. I think the problem is people do not respect speed limit sign everywhere. People are in to much of a hurry to get places and don't care about how they get there. Lucian, how about doing an article on the lack of policing for drivers using cell phones without the use of a hands-free device that would be better reporting. Never a cop around in Saratoga Springs when needed. They are always at Dunkin Donuts getting their free coffee and donuts at the expense of the tax payers.
