Description
At the intersection of 100 St and 100 Ave, the crosswalk countdowns on opposite sides of the intersection don't count down in sync.
Whenever there has been a turning advance, one crosswalk ends way before the other crosswalk. This makes absolutely no sense - why are pedestrians on one side of the intersection expected to stop before pedestrians on the other side of the intersection? When signals make no sense, people rightly ignore them. And when people ignore signals, unsafe circumstances are the result.
It would be nice if the people who program the crosswalks actually ever tried walking around downtown. I get the sense that the City doesn't have any concern about the walkability of downtown.

My frustrations with the signals are only when I'm a predestrian instead of a driver. For pedestrians, the signals are definitely needing A LOT of improvement!

The summer we plan to revisit the down-town signals to ensure that they meet our current timing standards as for as minimum green and walk clearances. This involves several timing plans as well as numerous time of day plans.
Also as tiny car indicated several major roadways in the city are at capacity at peak times and not much can be done without roadway improvements.
