Description

There is a fire plug on the NE side of Francis Street close to the property line separating 5 and 7 Francis Street and about 10 feet off the pavement. Over the past several seasons, the frost heave damage that occurs around this time of year - close to the fire plug - has caused progressively worse deterioration of the paved surface, to a point where cracks up to 2 inches are exposing the road base. Surface drainage on the road seems to enter the cracks, as it flows from south to north down Francis Street. The roadway surface is sinking in certain areas by the fire plug. Also - with the location of the water and sewer lines beneath the street, could there be a leak in this area, that has eroded a large enough void beneath the pavement, that soon will form a pretty good sized sinkhole????
