Description
This corner has had an open ditch for years. It is dirty and dangerous. It is not maintained and detracts from our neighborhood. Also, the engineering on Pontiac Lake Rd. and Genella St. is a hazard. Noted: The curbing is very awkward (i.e. it curves out when it should be curving in for a safe turn.) Is there a leak in the waterlines that keeps water in the ditch at all times?

Many years ago, when Leggett was still an elementary school, I repeatedly complained about the same area when it was just a few inches lower than the roadbed, but there was a hole approx. 18 inches wide and THREE FEET DEEP, filled with water--definitely a danger to children walking by it daily. Finally, the RCOC (formerly OCRC) "solved" that problem by digging the ditch to its present depth so now there's water in the entire ditch. That was NOT a fix--it was changing one hazard into another. It is apparent that the original water problem wasn't fixed by making an unsightly block-long ditch. I wonder what the marker on the map is for--it certainly doesn't mark the location of the problem.
There was another problem on Genella Street when cracks in the blacktop were "repaired." The job was so poorly done that the liquid repair substance ran out and pooled on the side of the road. I reported it to the Road Commission in September that year. In June of the following year I was informed that "the job was done to the Road Commission's standards." In my opinion, the Road Commission has struck out two-for-two.

I also want to add, I see a lot of Oakland County work being done in Auburn Hills, Rochester Hills and the city of Rochester. I think more attention should be given to Waterford and our issues.
