We did not have a driver report any damage at your residence. Our crews will check on it and get you a temporary mailbox put up so you may receive mail. If we are unable to determine what caused the damage we will help you with replacement.

First, Thanks for the temporary mailbox. If there no way to determine how this happened, I would be will to buy the new mailbax but need assistance by having you install it in its prvious location. This would require pulling the old remaining post out, puitting in a new post, and securing the mailbox to it. Please let me know if this is acceptable. I do have the old post in my garage if you need to inspect it.

Give us some time to get back with you as the forecast is for snow tonight and over the weekend. We will be busy with that. Once things slow down we will be back in touch. Until then I hope the temporary serves its purpose.

I just talked to my neighbor to the northeast of me and he said he was outside shoveling when he saw the City plow truck make the turn and taking out our mailbox. He indicated that the driver had some earbuds on so he probably would not of heard any change in noise level. My neighbor indicated that he tried to flag the truck down but that the driver likely didn't see him. My neighbor also said that the City had a followup vehicle come by (usually with Lou Braghini and someone from Neighborhod Services in it). My neighbor also said he tried to flag this vehicle down to tell them about our mailbox but that the vehicle kept going (likely did not see him either). I do think that puts the responsibility on the City to replace my mailbox.
