Description

As part of the gas station development at the corner of Powell St and Frontage Rd in Emeryville, this "sidewalk" portion of the Bay Trail was reconstructed.

The previous version looked more like a driveway than a trail and this newly constructed version isn't much better. The stop sign for car traffic exiting the gas station and the bike/ped warning signs help, but it seems that all of the ground-level suggestions I made to the city were disregarded. These included:

-Green paint on the sidewalk crossing the driveway
-Bike and/or crosswalk stencils crossing the driveway
-Speed bumps, raised crosswalks, rumble strips or other tactile feedback for drivers about to cross the trail at this driveway

Please look into retrofitting this Bay Trail segment with some of the above mentioned treatments, while this project is still fresh in the mind of city staff and the gas station developers.
