Oh well, at least it doesn't seem to be bothering anybody, but the dog's own safety could be jeopardized by all the maniac drivers around here.

Was out this morning around the dumpsters at Pepe's

And also on Chestnut between Wooster and Chapel. After this, the dog ran back across Wooster.

Dog is back out again, wandering on Wooster St. I've seen it twice this week.

The same dog is still allowed to run loose.

Hello. I told an acquaintance who lives on Wooster St. about this yesterday. He told me that the dog belongs to people who live above the old sub shop that's now closed, across the street form Libby's. He said they never have come out with the dog and always let him out to roam the neighborhood by himself. He even crosses Chapel St. to go to the park. Poor guy is so lucky he hasn't been hit yet :-(

I have seen the dog loose quite a few occasions recently too, mostly in daytime. This seems like a very calm dog that stays away from people and other dogs. I do not feel threatened in any way by this dog. However, the dog definitely is at risk of getting hit by a car. People do not drive safely around here. I don't know why anybody would think it's okay to let a dog roam like that, particularly in a high traffic area like this. In addition, I honestly don't know what good this See Click Fix thing is for, except to commiserate with neighbors about ongoing problems. The garbage strewn about the parks and neighborhood, the air pollution and this roaming dog are among the problems for which I am unaware of any intervention.

I posted on here because the New Haven Animal Shelter is supposedly notified about this issue, but when I spoke to them, they said they don't have internet access at the shelter. I have also called the Animal Shelter every time I saw the dog (about half a dozen times since February). They have promised to come look for it, but obviously, nothing has changed; it still roams freely. I am most concerned about the safety of the dog, but I don't know that it is friendly; it has growled at me when I came within about 10 feet of it. I also don't appreciate that it defecates at will along the street, which is never cleaned up.

Thanks to your comments, I can tell Animal Control where it lives next time I talk to them. Maybe then they can talk to the owner.
