Description

The new double sided parking ban implemented for severe snow storms is not worth the trouble it creates on the 600 block of Third Ave. The majority of the residence on this section of 3rd Ave do not have off street parking. This is the section where the row houses are North of Elm Street. When the double sided ban is implemented, we have to move our cars to municipal lots or schools. The nearest lot for us is the WH Library which is a 10-15 minute walk.

This inconvenience would be worth it if the street was plowed well enough that once the storm passes the street would have ample parking. The reality is the street is lucky to get two passes by the plows down the center of the street, and the parking is just as crammed as it ever has been with or without the parking ban (double or alternate side).

The mayor should either not do the double sided parking ban on streets like ours, or ensure that the plowing crews plow the streets wide enough to make the ban worth the trouble it causes for the residence of streets like the 600 block of 3rd Ave.
