I have lived in this neighborhood for roughly 40 plus years and Chantilly has never been as bad as it currently is. It is much like Alvernon in that it is nothing more than a paved wash that carries a tremendous amount of water during our rain storms. Putting in the speed humps haven't helped matters as it keeps water from exiting naturally. This road needs replaced and redesigned to accomadate the extreme conditions it recieves. The road needs replaced with drainage features added to assist in preserving the structure of the road.
http://dot.ci.tucson.az.us/streets/ this is the link to the City of Tucson Department of Transportation. There you can find the link and report the problems. If we flood the office with our request for repair it might get moved up the priority list. I have posted twice already.
i don't want to spend anymore money on repairs of my car due to latge pothole in the road on Chantllly. it's a shame to put up with drive in the other side of the road just to avoid the potholes.
Nearly impassable. Between Broadway and 5th street. The city has ignored our calls for repair. Now the road is so bad it would have to be completely repaved. If the city needs to save money, then they need to keep up on maintenance .
I just checked and Chantilly between 5th and Broadway is most definitely NOT fixed. It's as bad as ever and looks like it belongs in a third world country. So, whatever the City claims to have fixed, it was not Chantilly.
I SEEN YOU OUT THERE LONG ENOUGH TO
FIX TWO HOLES THAT DIDN'T TAKE BUT 5 MIN.
YOU'VE GOT BIGGER ISSUES WITH SAY 50 HOLES
SOME BIGGER THAT THE HOOD OF A CAR...QUITE
TRYING TO PASS THE BUCK, OR SHURK YOUR DUTIES TO US TAX PAYERS..GET THOSE DARN
HOLE FIXED OR YOUR LOOKING AT SOME POSSIBLE LAW SUITS FOR DAMAGES TO CARS,
DUE TO THOSE HOLES...
Even walking on Chantilly is dangerous. There are so many potholes someone is going to break a leg. And every vehicle must zigzag to try to avoid them--impossible to avoid all of them--this is also dangerous to pedestrians. This might be THE WORST collection of potholes in the city.
How about the City Council and the Streets Department take a field trip to our neighborhood to check out Chantilly and the round-about at Leonora & 6th St. I know money is tight, but this is shameful.
The City of Tucson is most definitely on notice about the dangerous conditions present on Chantilly Drive between Broadway and 5th Street. The City Department of Transportation has made a conscious decision to ignore requests to repair the road and therefore is liable for any damages that result from this ongoing situation.
It is just a matter of time until someone is seriously injured as a direct result of driving or walking on this (road, trail, mine field?) and it is time for legal action to be taken against the City of Tucson. It goes without saying that the City Counsel should be voted out of office for their incompetence and the head of the transportation department should be replaced as well.
I saw a handmade sign on Chantilly a few weeks ago, before I decided never to drive that street again and take Craycroft instead. It said (paraphrasing): Iraq doesn't have roads this bad!
Well, work was not done on 3-11-2010, or even started. I will say that at 11:30a.m. I did see a crew working hard on southside of Broadway at Wilmot, so I am thinking they just did not get to Chantilly yet. Maybe Friday? Maybe Monday?
Chantilly is a long way from being fully repaired. Heck, the City just needs to start from scratch to fully repair it. Nevertheless, while the City did fill in some of the larger potholes, plenty more remain unfilled.
Better, but still bad. Guess we need to know what they define as a true pot"hole" Must be greater than 3" in depth, judging by what is still not fixed.
WOW,,IT IS BETTER THAN IT WAS, BUT THEY STILL NEED TO FINISH UP SOME HOLES THAT WERE OVER LOOKED, OR THEY JUST WERE TO TIRED AND DIDNT WANT TO FINISH THE JOB..TO BAD,,,THEIR LUCK THEY HAVE TO JOB...
Excellent example of government serving the people. Do as little as possible as slowly as possible because there is no accountability and no consequences for poor workmanship.
Sorry to offend big government proponents, but in almost every case, the private sector working in a competitive market environment will do a much better job. Common Sense 101.
Private companies know if they don't do good work for a competitive price they won't get the job. The government sector is a monopoly that gets paid regardless of their performance. If it takes too long, goes over budget or is substandard the solution is to just raise taxes one more time on the very people they are suppose to serve. The majority got what they voted for; big anti-private sector government.
i guess its true, it takes a neighborhood to get a job done. when the people speak its nice to know the city is really listening..thanks for the work you finally did, that should of been done the first time months ago..oh well, when it's all cleaned up from the loose gravel,,i'll drive my car on it to ck it out..i don't want that junk sticking to my clean car, its tough to get off..
We had to get out the pitch forks and torches, but it finally got done and I will say it looks 1000% better. You guys and gals down at City Transportation can do a decent job when you want too and we finally got to see out tax dollars at work on something worthwhile!
i never had much faith in one or two people being hear by the city,,to be able to change things..and that was true,,,it took the whole neighborhood to express their feeling,,,and the city people that seem to care, really listened...good for you and good for us..thanks so much for responding to a situation that needed much attention...good job....

Chantilly, between Broadway and Fifth Street!
This section is so riddled with large potholes that a bicycle could not find one 4" wide uninterrupted path to ride a straight line down.
Everything - man, woman, child, animal, bicycle, car, truck, SCHOOL BUS - must zigzag the entire block! And, STILL, one cannot avoid all the potholes.
The fact that this section of street is directly beside an elementary school should be reason enough to expedite repairs.

Or as a modified Patrick Henry quote would say...
"Give me liberty from potholes on Chantilly, or vote out the City Council!"

Should we all go look? Maybe line up like a parade is gonna start? LOL.
I hope this is true AND I hope it means the entire block, not just a few spots...

TO MAKE SURE WE'RE NOT DREAMING THAT
THEY ARE ACTUALLY FIXING THE ROAD.

They need an ENTIRE day on Chantilly... at least.
