Description
For the past 3 years, the residents of Rensselaer have had no bus transportation to their own county fair! CDTA discontinued the Schagticoke Fair bus due to low ridership supposedly. Every time I rode it with my family it had a lot of passengers. Sometimes we had to stand on the way home! Please don't continue to let the fair be accessible only to those who have the luxury of owning a car or have enough money to be able to afford a hefty cab fare to the fair! There are a lot of folks who would love to ride the bus! It's a win win for everyone! CDTA makes money, drivers don't have to use their cars, waste gas, save the environment by using public transportation. Also the STAR bus does not go to the fair, making it inaccessible to the disabled! Both my son and husband ride the STARbus and were disappointed when they were told they could not get to the fair riding a STARbus. It seems going to the fair is only available to the rich nowadays and that is NOT FAIR! Give us non-drivers a break, please! Reinstate the Schagticoke Fair bus! The attached picture is of my husband and son waiting for the last bus to Schagticoke Fair back in 2005! Thank you!

I've always enjoyed going to the Schaghticoke Fair.To me it's almost been like a birthday gift to myself as my birthday falls on September 11th.Every time I took the bus to the fair, there was always a crowd waiting.I have seen numerous buses on the regular daily routes that have been almost completely empty. The fair occurs only 5 days a year and it's sad that so many people that are struggling should be deprived of this opportunity to enjoy themselves and bring their children even to such an enriching experience. Please do the right thing and reinstate the fair bus!! Think of it as showing an act of appreciation to your many grateful riders, who otherwise will miss out on something memorable.Thank you!!
