Description

Are heavy duty semis pulling large trailers allowed to travel on Grand Blvd?
At around 12:50 am on this Friday, 2/13/15, I was travelling southbound on West Grand, and was about to stop for a red light in the middle lane at the West 6th St. intersection. Two semi trailer trucks were travelling westbound on 6th St, one following the other. Both made huge right turns onto Grand Blvd, both nearly hitting my car. This was because they had to make a wide swing to accommodate their long trailers. This move required they cross over Grand's midline and onto oncoming traffic on Grand. My car was not quite stopped when they entered the intersection, and was approximately one foot from being hit. They were also going excessively fast. I believe they are using this route to circumvent the construction on Main St. Not only is this is a very unsafe maneuver, the truckers were rude and deliberately insensitive to my position at the intersection. I do not know if this is a common occurrence, but I can imagine it will become more commonplace over the next year if not controlled.
