Funny how the Mayor and the Councillors didn't volunteer their residential areas to be shut off. Oh ya right I forgot how important they are!!!!!!!!

The residents of PA that pay taxes to Prince Albert were asked to please conserve water, under threat that not doing so might result in not enough water in case of Fire etc. We were not given any notice beyond a day either.
Though I am sympathetic to you, I do kind of wonder why you would wait until Dec30 to fill up with water anyway? Although PA depends on you RMs for shopping and working here, I am not entirely sure it's up to the city to make sure you have water available 24/7?
Sorry you were inconvenienced but what if there had been a HUGE storm and you were stuck at home and not been able to go out for water?

Well that is how our city operates! Makes it a great place to live doesn't it? No regard for anyone. You could have filled up at my house - if you had an unfrozen hose! :)

Apparently to them flushing toilets is not a priority! That is unacceptable that they would shut it off completely.I feel bad for you,I really do.

One would hope the rural water utilities would have contracts that specify the expected levels of service and availability, as well as a period of notification for interruption. If the city didn't follow the rules of their contracts, there are ways to deal with that which will teach them to be more respectful of the contract terms in the future.

ehh my job requires that i wash the floors with a pressure washed and no shortage is going to stop me...my job is more important. plus i got a family that has a well so in your face! think ahead and dig yer-self a well next time ppl.

Boy I'm glad we didn't spend the $20,000 to get city water. Our well is controlled by us and we are not at the mercy of some idiot at city hall. That being said it is irresponsable to cut the sevices that people have paid for without warning. The person responsable should be looking for a new job in the new year.

@ planahead. The residents of PA were asked to conserve water by not washing their pets and cars and to reduce laundry and washing dishes. I am sure you noticed the other topics on this site that included car wash's still open during this water shortage. I live outside of the city limits and rely on the water crane in town for my water use. I hall water every couple of weeks. Some rural residents need to hall water on a daily basis. I did not wait till my tank was empty to fill it on Dec 30 I had planned ahead to fill it that day and I still had a hundred or so gallons in my tank. I planned for the long weekend to fill my tank to be prepared for the extra water use that a long weekend would entail. There was NO warning or request of to reduce usage the tap was simply turned off. I ask you if it isn't up to the city to ensure that the necessity of water is available then who is. I wonder how prepared you are if you arrived home at five o'clock and saw a piece of cardboard on your door saying you will have no water for the weekend. And just so you know I am prepared to clear snow incase of a huge storm, I have used my tractor several times to clear snow for myself and neighbours.

I find it strange that I have posted my experience with the cities negligence on this issue twice on this exact site and both times it was removed. It is a scary thought to think that responses are being edited to suppress the facts...We will see if this one stays.

Obviously you aren't aware that rural residents do pay taxes that go to the city. I pay $220 for essential services. The only service being the fire department which is unable to respond within their 3 minute standard. A portion of my taxes also goes to the schools in the city just as yours do. I pay taxes to the RM which a large sum is, to put it in the words of the RM "gouged" by the city. So please do not use we pay the taxes and you don't argument.
