Description
Until the city plows to the curb, cars will park halfway into the left hand lane. Since the right hand lane is not plowed to the curb either, there is barely one passable travel lane. It's true here, and all across the city.

Yes, but meanwhile these parked cars are obstructing traffic creating a dangerous situation as two lanes of traffic compete for the same space. Even Chapel Street is reduced to effectively one lane between about York and Orchard.
It makes no sense to lift the parking ban until there are safe places to park.

Agreed with BRS. Why lift the ban if "snow operations continue throughout the city." Why not do it right when the ban is in place?
Sigh, I need to move to the suburbs.

2 weeks later, and it's still the same. Patience is one thing, but when will the city take care of this?
According to the city website (http://cityofnewhaven.com/PublicWorks/trash/SnowRemoval.asp), all roads should be clear within 48 hours of a snowstorm of 10 or more inches, where clear means all travel lanes open. All travel lanes are not open when people park in them. Parking and snow removal need to coordinate to make sure that the streets are safe to travel.
