Description
at the corner of crown and orange, in front of the 44 Orange Street Residences at ninth square building, the pedestrian signal continuously beeps all throughout the night despite no foot traffic. My bedroom window is right above it and its quite loud and disturbing.....Thank you.

An honest, non-snarky question: why do New Haven traffic "beep" when it is *not* safe to cross/the "do not cross" sign is on? The Accessible Council of the Blind recommends giving a tone when the walk sign is ON to cross: http://acb.org/node/617
Switching to this method would reduce noise pollution, especially for the very unfortunate residents near cross walks (Crown & Orange St, I feel for you). Traffic and Parking, why do we have the current "not safe to cross" signalling system, which results in ~80% beeping throughout the day and night, and with less than 20% of time enjoying sweet silence? If we knew the reason -- and it enhanced safety for some residents, the noise might be a little easier to endure.
