Description
This intersection is extremely dangerous, when exiting from this area in our subdivision, trying to make a left turn, is nearly impossible, you have to cross 4 rows of traffic, watching not only the north bound traffic, you also have to watch for cars coming from southbound traffic some continuing on and some entering into our subdivision. I myself have witnessed many close calls seeing people taking risks just to cross the road. This area is very unsafe and really needs a stop light here

Apparently you have no idea how the process of emergency services works, or know that lights and sirens make it so much more dangerous for the emergency workers. Nor the fact that you are not the only person who drives to work on a busy road. Statistically the roads I drive to work on are much more dangerous as I have to be on them all the time and deal with aggressive drivers. You also are also not educated in knowing how the process works for getting a street light put in as simply coming to a webpage and whining about it, attacking others and looking foolish will not get it done. Where are you when it is time for the Chesterfield cit council meetings? I am there every meeting and have never heard you bring this issue up. Chesterfield is looking to pass a millage because of a deficit in the budget because our homes are continuing to loose value which in turn decreases tax revenue. . Do you really think that this conversation here, on a newspaper webpage, will get someone to run out and put in a traffic light? Have you contacted the right organizations or are you simply trying to whine and intimidate others here? Have you looked at any study to see how a light there would effect traffic at Hall road or 21 mile or even the surrounding streets? There is a reason why streetlights are put where they are and it is not from people simply saying they need one. Look how many others are asking for street lights and see how many have gotten it done this way, you will see how fruitless it is. You should be following the actual process of contacting the right governmental bodies, looking for traffic pattern studies, crash statistics and all of the proper ways to accomplish this. I know that this is the way it is done as I have been involved in getting it done in another spot on Gratiot. Coming here and trying to bully me really won't get you what you want. I also am not intimidated at all by you or people like you who feel you need to be rude to get your way no matter what.
You may also want to go back and read my posts and yours. I don't say that it is a rural area. I said that your claim of how far you would have to drive out of your way to go to Walmart is ridiculous as you would not have to do that to turn around. You are exaggerating your claim of what it would take to go an alternate way. Additionally, there have been people KILLED turning left from the businesses on 23 mile near Gratiot and there are no additional lights there. Not that long ago it was a young girl from Anchor Bay High School, similar to the young driver you discuss, that died while making a left turn in Chesterfield on a very busy road similar to Gratiot.. There is not a light where she died now because of it. Instead the discussion was that she should have not made that turn as it was too dangerous. That is what new drivers should know, that when it is too dangerous to turn left, go out of your way to be safe. Not that the government or someone else should make a change so they can have what they want. Leaving the house 10 minutes earlier to avoid the danger of making that turn is not that big of a deal. Many of us do it everyday.
You probably don't believe in Karma...but someday if you need medical help and I am the responder that comes to help you...I will do my best to save your life,or the life of your loved one. Though I will be able to smile a little inside and maybe introduce myself to you as the person who you were rude to once. This should be easy as I have an idea where you live and you posted your name here. It is then that you will feel foolish.
