Lights burn on the soccer field almost every night all night regardless of weather or whether there are any games or not. This goes on all seasons of the year--not just soccer season. Who is paying for this wastefulness?

The Harpeth Youth Soccer Association pays for it. Try giving them a call and ask them to turn their field lights out if no one is playing or is scheduled to play. Their number is 662-6976. (Just my two cents.)
Soccer is actually a year-round sport and practices and games can be held nearly every month of the year. Typically there is very little use of the fields there between Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day due primarily to weather.
